Lakadong Turmeric

7%+curcuminoids, typical

Guaranteed minimum on every lot, measured by HPLC. Ordinary turmeric runs 2–3%.

Lakadong turmeric — a bowl of deep golden powder with dried rhizome fingers and fresh slices
What it is

Lakadong isn't a grade of turmeric. It's a distinct cultivar from the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, grown between 900 and 1,800 metres. That altitude, the loamy hill soil and a long cool season give it a naturally high curcuminoid content, typically above 7%, against the 2–3% of the bulk turmeric most exporters ship. It is GI-registered, and we back the number with a guaranteed minimum specification and an HPLC result for your actual lot. For a curcumin extractor or a premium retail brand, that difference is the whole business case: more active compound per kilo, verified on paper.

Ordinary turmeric sits at 2–3%. Lakadong typically runs past 7%, so you get more active compound per container and a lower cost per gram. We commit to a guaranteed minimum and put the real HPLC number for your lot on the certificate.

What travels with every lot

A Certificate of Analysis, not a claim.

Commodity turmeric is bought on a supplier's word. We'd rather you bought on numbers, so we test every export lot at an independent laboratory and the results ship with the goods.

Independently tested for
  • Curcuminoids (HPLC)
  • Moisture & ash
  • Heavy metals (Pb, Cr, As, Cd, Hg)
  • Pesticide residues
  • Ethylene oxide (ETO)
  • Aflatoxin & microbial

Why source it from us

You're buying curcuminoids, not colour

If you extract or formulate, the curcuminoids are the whole point. Where commodity turmeric sits at 2–3%, Lakadong typically runs above 7%, so you get more active compound per container and a lower cost per gram. We commit to a guaranteed minimum and send the HPLC number for your actual lot, so nothing rests on a claim.

You can tell your customer exactly where it grew

The GI registration pins Lakadong to one region and one cultivar. When your buyer asks where it comes from, "Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, GI-registered" is an answer that survives scrutiny. "India, unspecified" isn't. That provenance is part of what you're reselling.

It clears the strict borders

Japan tightens inspection after a single residue slip. Australia checks at the dock. The EU runs hard limits on pesticides and heavy metals. Our Certificate of Analysis covers curcuminoids, moisture, pesticides, heavy metals, ethylene oxide, aflatoxin and microbial load, so your broker and your QA people have what they need before the container lands.
