Who we are

Buying from India means a producer you cannot visit, a lab you did not choose, and rules that change from country to country. We take care of all of it, so you deal with one company and always know who to call.

What we handle
  • Finding and checking suppliers
  • Sampling and lab testing
  • Checking results against your country's rules

  2. 2Approve the quote
  3. 3Receive the goods and the test report

We are a merchant exporter. We do not grow turmeric and we do not age garlic ourselves. We find producers who do it well, check their work, and handle the export.

Why we exist

India grows it well.We prove it.

A great crop deserves paperwork to match it.

India grows some of the finest turmeric and garlic in the world. The Jaintia Hills produce turmeric with more curcumin than almost anywhere on earth. That part is already excellent, and it does not need our help.

The hard part is proof. When you buy an ingredient you cannot see, from a farm you cannot visit, you are trusting a document. That is true of every country and every crop. And most test reports are written by the same company that is selling the goods, so there is nothing behind them for you to check.

We started TrueOrigin to close that gap. We take the sample ourselves and send it to a lab we do not own. The report comes back with a lot number, and we keep that record. Ask us a year later and we can still tell you the producer, the date and the result.

India has always had the crop. Our job is to send it out with proof attached.

Why buyers choose India

India grows most of the world's turmeric, so this is where the best crop is. It also grows enough garlic that we can pick only the batches worth ageing. We buy one specific type: Lakadong turmeric from the Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya. It is protected by law and about 14,000 farmers grow it. Because it sells for a high price, cheaper turmeric is often sold under its name.

government-accredited test labs across India

India controls this trade more than most buyers expect. To export turmeric you must register with the Spices Board of India. The Board publishes the chemical limits for each country and sets the tests you have to run. The rules are the same for everyone. What changes is how carefully each exporter follows them.

Why buyers choose us

We use an outside lab

We take the sample and send it to a lab that we do not own and the supplier does not own. Most exporters simply forward the report the factory gave them. The two look similar. They are not the same.

Every batch has a number

Your test report carries a lot number. Send us that number at any time and we can tell you the producer, the date it was made, and the result.

Start with 100 kg

Buy 100 kg. Test it in your own lab. Then decide whether you want to work with us.

Papers made for your country

Japan, the EU and the UAE all ask for different documents. Tell us your port and we prepare the right set for it.

Verify us yourselfOur licences, our lab reports, and the government websites where you can check them.
What we export

Good turmeric and cheap turmeric look the same. What matters is the curcumin inside, and you cannot see it. Black garlic is the same: a batch rushed through in two weeks looks like one aged for three months. Only a lab test shows the difference. That is why we chose these two.

Lakadong
Lakadong sells for a high price, so cheaper turmeric is often sold under its name. We test every batch and give you the exact number.
Black garlic
Rushed black garlic looks right but tastes bitter. We record the temperature and humidity while it ages, and test every batch.
How we guarantee quality

We test first.Then we ship.

Before anything leaves India we take a sample from your batch and send it to an outside lab. If the result does not meet the agreed standard, that batch does not ship. We tell you the same day, we start again with a new batch, and you pay nothing for goods we rejected.

What we test in every batch
  • Curcumin and SAC levels
  • Moisture, ash and foreign matter
  • Heavy metals: lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury
  • Pesticide levels for your country
  • Salmonella, E. coli, yeast and mould
  • Ethylene oxide and aflatoxin (turmeric only)
Every batch goes through the same eight steps
  1. 01Supplier qualification
  2. 02Sourcing & lot ID
  3. 03Representative sampling
  4. 04Independent lab testing
  5. 05Specification review
  6. 06Export approval
  7. 07Packing & documentation
  8. 08Dispatch, records retained

We do not accept Western Union, MoneyGram, personal accounts or crypto.

These four are how export scams take your money. We refuse them in writing, so you never have to wonder.

We do not offer DDP.

DDP means the seller promises to clear customs in your country and pay your duty. No seller can control that from India. It sounds helpful and it often fails at the border. If you are new to importing, ask for CIF instead.

Global compliance

Documents that work for Australia may not work for Japan. If we test to a general standard instead of yours, your goods can be held at the border. Tell us the destination before we quote and we prepare for that country.

European Union

EU

We test against EU chemical limits before shipping. The EU runs extra border checks on several origins, India among them, so expect a sample to be taken. Our report is written to answer it.

United States

US

FDA registration and a US agent are our job. Prior Notice and FSVP checks are yours.

Japan

JP

Japan has a strict list of allowed chemicals. One failure means tighter checks on your next shipments, so our report covers chemicals and aflatoxin first.

UAE & GCC

AE

Labels must be in Arabic and follow GSO rules. You only need a halal certificate if you sell it as halal. Tell us and we will arrange one.

United Kingdom

UK

Since Brexit the UK sets its own chemical limits, so they can differ from the EU. You will need a GB EORI number.

Sent with every shipment
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Packing List
  • Certificate of Origin
  • Certificate of Analysis
  • Phytosanitary Certificate
  • Bill of Lading / Airway Bill
  • Fumigation Certificate (where required)

Send us your company name and address exactly as they appear on your import licence, not your trading name. A small difference here is the most common reason goods get stuck at a port. We also need your registration number, your port, and your customs agent.

Buyer confidence

Any supplier can tell you what happens when everything works. Here is what happens when it does not.

If customs holds your goods

Customs can hold any food shipment for inspection. It is routine and it is not a sign of a problem. It is also why we test before shipping rather than hoping, so the paperwork answers their questions.

If the goods are wrong

You have 14 days. Send us the lot number and your own lab result. We send you the full record, including anything that shows the fault was ours. Then we replace the goods or refund you.

If you would rather not trust us

Hire your own inspector to check the goods before we ship. SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, or anyone you already use.

We would rather lose the money than argue with you about a lab report.
